Why You Feel So Overwhelmed

overwhelm personal development

I’ve been thinking about why so many moms feel like they’re going crazy.

One reason could be the amount of decisions we have to make.

According to Google, the average adult makes about 35,000 decisions each day.

That’s a lot of decisions, and they start right away in the morning.

Should I get up?

Should I hit snooze?

Should I workout?

Should I eat this?

Should I eat that?

Should I drink this?

Should I drink that?

Should I clean? Sit on the sofa? Have more coffee?

And this is just at home (and we haven’t even touched the decisions we make for our kids!).

It gets worse when we leave the house—there’s probably over a 100 options for deodorant alone.

All day long your brain fires decision after decision at you, of course you’re overwhelmed.

You have limited brain power to get you through the day.

Every decision you make uses up your brain juice.

This might make it seem like not making decisions would give you more brain juice, but that isn’t the case.

When you delay a decision, it uses up MORE juice.

The decision doesn’t go away.

It hangs out in your brain, nudging you to decide.

For example, when you bring the mail in, you have to make decisions.

Should you keep it?

Does it need to be filed?

Do you need to pay a bill?

Can it all go in the trash?

In that moment you have two options:

1 Decide what to do with the mail

2 Delay deciding what to do with the mail

If you decide what to do with the mail, your brain stays clean and empty.

You use minimal brain juice.

If you delay the decisions, every time you see that mail on the counter, it will pull at your brain.

I should clean that up.

I should put that away.

I need to figure this out.

I need to fill this out.

All of this chatter uses up your brain juice, and you’re even more overwhelmed.

No wonder you don’t want to deal with the kids. Your nervous system can’t handle the decisions.

So how do you ever expect to enjoy your life when there’s so many decisions to make and you have such limited brain power?

The answer is to be able to see the decision and make the one that serves you in the moment.

And, I would argue, it’s actually easier to do.

Remember, the more decisions you make, the more brain juice you’re left with, and the less overwhelmed you will feel.

It’s like getting to the end of the day and still having +75% battery left.

Making decisions is a skill.

If you don’t develop the skill of making positive decisions in the moment that serve you, you will experience decision fatigue and become overwhelmed.

Making positive decisions in the moment that serve you is the only way to eliminate overwhelm for good.

INTRODUCING…Overwhelm Coaching.

This is private one-on-one coaching where we solve for the root cause of your overwhelm and remove it from your life so you have more energy to actually LIVE.

When you work with me, I will show you the decisions you’re not making and teach you how to start making them WITHOUT feeling overwhelm.

When you start making decisions, you change what happens in your brain, and that impacts your energy level.

If having more energy would be a help to you, that's just the start.

When you start making decisions that work for you, you create more order in your life as well. That means you're going to get organized and I have a simple process that will teach you how to stay that way.

When you follow the process you clean your mind and your life.

This works because your life is just a reflection of your mind, and when your mind is clean, your life starts to reflect that.

I always start with a free consultation, and you can schedule yours HERE.

The consultation is like a mini personal development class that is designed to give you an overview of your entire life so you can clearly see what would be the best next step for you, and with that information you'll be able to decide if you want to work with me and move forward or not.

You want to allow a full hour for the consultation and most clients like to be in a quiet place where they can take notes and think seriously about their future.

I know I can help you decrease your overwhelm by 80%

I'm so confident in this because the process works. I will share the process with you on the call.

All you have to do is go to www.marindatervo.com/cal and book your free call there, and whether you work with me or not, you're going to love this intimate personal development call on you.
